Windstax
Pennsylvania-based Windstax, a renewable energy company specializing in vertical wind turbines, needed a mobile app for two key audiences. Existing customers required convenient tools for energy tracking, billing, and service scheduling, while potential customers at trade shows needed a way to assess turbine viability in their area.

A mobile application that services the needs of existing customers while educating and inspiring prospective customers to join
Project overview
Our Windstax project began with stakeholder interviews and concept mapping, revealing the company's goal of converting consumers to environmentalists while addressing startup cost and maintenance concerns. Understanding customer priorities, particularly regarding energy provider changes, guided our approach. We synthesized these insights into a concept map and value flow model, clarifying the mobile application ecosystem. Low-fidelity prototyping mapped stakeholder journeys and addressed their lack of domain knowledge, emphasizing education in both use cases. Collaborating with the CEO, we designed screens and iterated through mid-fidelity prototypes, creating separate flows for users and salespeople. Feedback emphasized balanced data presentation and simplified explanations of Windstax's services. High-fidelity prototyping integrated micro-interactions and animations for enhanced engagement and a seamless client handoff.
